ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ™ is releasing a new LE to raise funds for survivors of Typhoon Haiyan Yolanda which has affected a total of 9.5 million people across the Philippines -- and displaced at least 600,000 -- when it slammed into the country on Friday11/8, according to the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Survivors were described as being in desperate need of clean drinking water and food. It was likely the deadliest natural disaster to beset this poor Southeast Asian nation.

TYPHOON is 3.25 m tall & 2.3 m wide, medium growth & is an outdoor variety. This LE was designed very large to mirror the huge need for humanitarian help & also the amazing golden  colors were sampled from photos of "Star Fruit", the famous fruit indigenous to the Philippines. Each golden seed of hope is L$180 & will be sold until our goal of $360 USD is met! 

UNICEF is taking donations to help provide children with shelter, clean water, nutrition and vaccines. Representatives said its staff in the Philippines is being repositioned to help in relief efforts and 66 tons of emergency supplies are being sent from Copenhagen.

How To Price Your Plants
A Basic Guide To Selling Your ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ™

Your harvest has grown & you are looking for Lins, but aren't too sure how the pricing begins.
Some go low, others stay HIGH...and you're left in the middle, wondering why?
Truly it's not "rocket science" Man! With a little math you'll have it all planned!

OK, so we have all been here. We finally get our first great harvest and we are ready to offer it to all. How much do we charge? Really, time and the market shall tell. The best way for me has been a simple formula that helps me keep my prices to what I feel is fair for both buyer and seller.
Start with the price of the seeds,
some are 60 l while LE's are a bit more.
So starting with 60 L is a great base.
Now add 10 L per generation for food.

So now we get to part that confuses a lot of people.
As we all know females have a higher tendency to pass foliages in their genetics but never forget that males can as well.

I myself add 50 L per LE foliage in the direct line, meaning back to grand parents for a male . Add 100 L per LE foliage in the females. We also add 50 - 100 L for any traits we breed in specially like extreme growth rates, bright, non bright etc. Keeping in mind while mutations are special we cannot control them. So to some a 0.8 bred in bright will be more valuable than a 1.0 mutation that happened when the seed was harvested. We also want to consider other factors such as, was it a flash LE? Is it a rare or brand new LE? These are all factors that affect pricing.

So let's see some examples:

A Reprise, Revisited Again: Towelie says "Don't forget to bring a towel"...

...to cry when plants poof or have problems breeding/growing.

With more folks getting involved with auctions, 3rd party sales, trading, and the like, there is also a greater chance that some guys will try to "game" the system in search of a fast buck. More innocently, there's also a bigger chance that you'll encounter older versions that don't have the latest features. This article outlines a few ways you can make 3rd party dealing a little safer.

Tip #1: FIRST, remember that the "CannabiSL game" is based on a RL activity that can attract less-than-honest, shady characters.  SL mirrors RL to an extent, so tip #1 is KNOW YOUR CONNECTION. Do your Due Diligence. If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. If something doesn't seem right, just walk (or fly) away. Unlike RL, you won't get mugged, and you won't get busted!

Tip #2: ALWAYS CHECK THE CREATOR NAME WHEN BUYING FROM A 3rd PARTY. All scripted CannabiSL items - seeds, plants, bricks, Grow Lites, and plant food - show Djeaux Farrasco as the Creator. The only exceptions that are authorized to use the CannabiSL mark are clothing items. Anything else is a fake.

Tip #3: ALWAYS CHECK THE  VERSION AND LAST OWNER OF 3rd PARTY SEEDS & PLANTS. Unless you're an experienced breeder or collect rarities, you'll want to buy seeds and plants with the most up-to-date scripts. In both Versions 1 and 2, you can check the script version number in a plant's stats. The highest Version 1 release is 1.420L-2. The latest Version 2 release is whatever the Transmogrifier is serving!

If the Version 2 mother plants are upgraded before harvesting, the offspring will show Djeaux Farrasco as the last owner. If the last owner is anyone else, it means the plant's mother was not upgraded. If the version number shown in stats is up-to-date, it's all okay, but knowing the seller attends to upgrades is a good thing.

I'm still stirring the cauldron, brewing the next ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ™ update, but I thought I'd make a quick update to let y'all know what's in store. With 95% of the code done, we'll be testing the scripts soon! <hint> Trust me, we'll be giving thanks here when it is done! </hint>

The Path to Extreme Phun by Doc Stoney

Wow! What an adventure this has been!

Back in March I was first approached about CannabiSl. I immediately got excited. I mean Weed is something I know right? Was I ever wrong. Back then we were on V1 and we had a lot more luck than formula to breed with. We didn't have Grandparents Genetics Or Even Stats. Plants were always 1 seed, and really it was total luck breeding.

 

Then along came V2 with all the additional stats and genetics. We were now able to actually watch and learn the math for these.

This started my path. From the first 8 Mile High Auction I was (pardon the pun) extremely lucky and got my first ever Full Ultra Plant, a 1 in 100 chance! She then gave us a male and from him we have bred and re-bred, watching the math increase or decrease each time.

I have since learned that as with size  (see Arioch's write-up) this same math can be applied to growth rates. For example, take a 6 % extreme male and breed him with a 2 % (slow) growth rate female, and you will get a new 4% rate, halfway between the two. Then take that plant, breed again to the 6% male, and speed increases more to 5%. By doing this, we now have many generations all above the extreme rate of greater than 5.5%. With time and a little monitoring, everyone can easily achieve this.  It takes a lucky break, but as with life it is more what we do with that luck then how we got it. I wish all the best as we now truly brighten our days with this extreme way.

BASIC MATH FOR BASIC GENETICS by AriochKaos Resident

It has come to my understanding that most don't know about the genetics of how growing

CannabiSL Plants work.

So I decided to research the possibilities of how to make large plants or small plants.

What i discovered is this, "BASIC MATH" so all stoner's need not worry just grab a calculator and try it out yourselves.

Here is a brief example of how to make lighting requirements, Lets say you have 2 plants,  one plant has outdoor lighting and the other has indoor,

outdoor being 2 and indoor being 0 ,

just add 2+0=2 now divide by 2 plants = 1 indoor/outdoor  (eg: 2+0=2 then 2/2=1)

For larger plants just breed a large plant with another large plant for example.

Lets say your plant is 3m tall and the other 4m tall, breeding these 2 plants will result in a smaller plant, (eg: 3+4=7 then 2/7=3.5)

Now take the Offspring Plant 3.5 tall and breed it to another large plant, lets say 4m tall, (eg: 3.5+4=7.5 then 7.5/2=3.75)

As you can see it is getting taller with each additional breeding, the equation will work with width and in reverse if you want small plants.

This equation will also work with Potency. Of course this is just a rough calculation, not an exact science but the numbers are really close.

Height & Width did not change considerably and next pollination will be to a male from same mom as this plant so hoping to now have a Paradise Peach that is strong foliage but a faster growth rate!

Everyone is familiar with the very slow, slow, medium, fast, and very fast (1-5%) growth rates displayed on plants. And a few growers have seen the Ultra mutation, which doubles growth rate. Ultras are the rarest CannabiSL mutation: the odds are 1 in 100. With V2, the Ultra growth rate is inheritable. To distinguish this, a plant that has the 1% mutation is labeled "Full Ultra." Offspring of Full Ultras show the ususal growth rate labels if their averaged growth is 5% or less. But if an Ultra's offspring has an averaged growth rate greater than 5%, it is labeled "Extreme."

New Dynamic List of Varieties

For some time, we've kept a Google Docs spreadsheet that listed all released ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ™ varieties linked under The Plants on this blog. Starting now, the List of Varieties is generated automatically direct from the genetics database that the plants themselves use. Using some cool SL tricks, it's illustrated, too!

Oh... The new list displays everything, including a couple of varieties that haven't yet been released! When we're about to roll out a new LE, hunt, or charity seed, the genetic data is entered in advance, so you can find out what's coming up by checking it often!

INTRODUCTING THE 2.11c UPDATER

INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPDATING Version 2.11c CANNABISL SEEDS AND PLANTS

IMPORTANT! This is a new CannabiSL Update Transmogrifier that will significantly improve your updating "work flow." Please read these instructions, as they are different from earlier Update Transmogrifiers.

TO UPDATE YOUR PLANTS:

1. Rez the Update Transmogrifier in the same region (sim) as the seeds and plants you need to update. The Update system is owner specific, so you must be the owner of BOTH the Update Transmogrifier and the seed/plant.  If two persons share the same space, they will each need their own Transmogrifiers.

2. Touch the Update Transmogrifier. You will see a message in local chat that it is "listening."  The base of the Transmogrifier will turn green to indicate that it is "on."

3. Touch the seed or plant to be updated. Select the ADVANCED menu and click UPDATE.  You will see a series of messages in local chat confirming the update process.

4. Repeat Step #2 for all plants to be updated.  YOU DO NOT NEED TO TOUCH THE TRANSMOGRIFER BETWEEN PLANTS!

    Please be aware that:
        (a) The update affects offspring only,  The plant you update will not change.
        (b) The update process does depend on SL-imposed bottlenecks. Don't try to work too fast.  You can "stack" updates onto the Transmogrifier, but keep an eye on the messages in local chat.  If SL seems slow or laggy, wait.
        (c) You do not need to update males unless you offer them for sale.
       
5. When you are done, touch the Transmogrifier again to turn it off. The base will turn black as an indicator.
