A New Year's Special & A New Version!

“The world is changing: I feel it in the water, I feel it in the earth, and I smell it in the air.”

Full bright TREEBEARD LE in its natural habitat.

The  ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ™ Team went deep into J.R.R. Tolkien's Fangorn Forest to bring back our 2018 New Year's Limited Edition, TREEBEARD.

The oldest of the Ents in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, Treebeard was a tree-like creature, "a shepherd of trees," and as the wizard Gandalf said, "the oldest living thing still walking the Sun upon this Middle-earth."

As Ents do, Treebeard came to resemble the plants he herded, and the  ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ TREEBEARD is no exception. This LE is genetically designed to guard your grow in the coming New Year!

Like its namesake, ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ TREEBEARD is strong and slow -- high potency, slow growing indoor/outdoor plants. Although the "real" Treebeard was four meters tall, these are medium large plants at 1.925 meters tall and wide, and feature subtle sprite-like Entwives FX.

(Entwives, you ask? Hey, we're NOT going to read LOTR to you! Go buy the Cliff Notes! Watch the movies! Google is your friend. Does this mean there's a LOTR set heading our way in 2018? You tell us!)

Two seed packs are on sale for L$420 and 10-seed bulk packs for L$2100 at ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ Central.

NEW VERSION!

What's more, TREEBEARD is our first Version 4.19.905 release! So we've released a new HUD (Version 4.20180101) for your updating enjoyment!

Version 4.19.905 has several new features, but the most exciting is the new myGrow 2.0 web page link. Instead of the old hard to use single page list, the new myGrow is "paged" and provides several basic search filters to help you locate your currently growing plants. New version plants record more information about themselves: tint, glow, FX, and importantly, location. So for 4.19.905s, you're able to click a SLURL link on your myGrow 2.0 page that can transport you directly to that specific plant! (You'll still be able to see older version plants in myGrow 2.0. Those listings don't include FX, tint, and glow stats, and the direct teleport link isn't available.)

What's more, the myGrow 2.0 system encrypts your username and ID. Privacy, privacy, privacy! But as they say, better safe... Now, if somebody wants to see your myGrow page -- perhaps to figure out a buy or trade -- they'll have to get the link from you!

You'll find your personal link to myGrow 2.0 in the Help Submenu of every 4.19.905 plant as well as in the HUD Menu > Help Submenu of HUD 4.2018.

Additionally, we've added AutoPause and PassGroup controls to the plant menu. Now, AutoPause is available to HUD-phobic growers (who get no benefit from PassGroup anyway). but more importantly, this lets you fix any cross-ups when configuring a group with the HUD. (Yes, we all forget to click plants "HUD On" when setting up groups! 😜)

AutoPause and PassGroup are found in the new Special Submenu of plants' Advanced Menu. This meant moving the Banner button from the Advanced Menu back to the Main Menu to make room for the Special Submenu on the Advanced Menu.

Confused? Good! The bottom line is that you're now only two clicks instead of three from hiding hovertext banners! (Djeaux thinks this is the coolest part of the new version, but he doesn't like text banners.)

As always, the new version incorporates a lot of small, mostly behind the scenes changes to make the growing experience work better and provide you with easy access to the tools you need to take your breeding projects to the next level. And oh yeah, we sometimes change things just to make sure that growing ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ remains challenging and fun. (You figure out what that last sentence meant!  😁)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
HAPPY GROWING!
And remember, "it's always 4:20 somewhere!"

"But wait, there's more..."

The ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ Team also brings you a very special Special Edition (SE) set, and it's a real "Sneaky Santa!"  Enjoy  a visit from the JOLLY ST NICK who stashes GIFTS GALORE under the tree, and then unwrap 'em to find WISHES COME TRUE!
Left to Right: WISHES COME TRUE, GIFTS GALORE, JOLLY ST NICK Special Edition Set
Generation 1 plants are JOLLY ST NICK, featuring a vintage Santa graphic. Santa leaves GIFTS GALORE in the 2nd generation, and WISHES COME TRUE in the 3rd generation. Like our other SEs, each generation has a chance of producing an alternate foliage in its offspring. But because Santa Claus is coming to town, these plants have a 100% chance of throwing the next foliage in the set!

All three varieties are medium potency, very fast growing outdoor plants featuring White Twinklies FX. And yes, Virginia, that FX is an extension of last year's Twinklies FX set!

Growers Notes (Caution! Technical information ahead!)
  • Previous SE sets (Mandala and Star Trek) present a 1-in-25 (4%) chance of throwing an alternate foliage when seeds or bricks are germinated. These are our customary SE odds and are built into every ovule, which makes it possible (since Star Trek) to update SE plants using the HUD 4.2017. In order to make every succeeding generation show alternate foliages, Sneaky Santa seeds have a one-off (4.19.904m) ovule. (You can verify this by the usual Edit > Content > Ovule Properties method.)

  • Plants with the 4.19.904m ovule will always produce offspring that follow the SE sequence, JOLLY ST NICK > GIFTS GALORE > WISHES COME TRUE. The sequence repeats beginning at generation 4.

  • Males are capable of passing the specific foliage they display and are also able to pass the White Twinklies FX. This is probably the best strategy for working the FX into other breeding lines.

  • Mutations such as dwarf, giant, superweed, or ultra will be lost in the next generation unless the grower chooses one of two paths. First, the SE Lock may be used to remove the SE system and lock in the parent's foliage forever. Or you may devise a plan based on the following information...

  • The standard upgrade ovule presents 4% rather than 100% odds of throwing an SE foliage. Upgrading Sneaky Santa plants using the HUD 4.2017 in CSLUT mode will replace the 4.19.904m ovule with a regular 4.19.904 ovule. Although the offspring will still have SE capabilities, the odds of getting an alternate foliage are greatly reduced, and mutation stats will be passed as usual.

Notes for Secondary Market Buyers:
  • A "pure" Sneaky Santa plant will show 4.19.904SE in the plant's stats after germination. It will also contain a 4.19.904m ovule. The odds of the offspring following the alternate foliage sequence are 100%.

  • A Sneaky Santa plant that has been updated with a standard ovule will show 4.19.904SE in the plant's stats, but the ovule inside will be 4.19.904. The odds of the offspring having an alternate foliage are 4%, the regular mutation rate.

  • A Sneaky Santa plant that has been "SE Locked" will show 4.19.904 in the plant's stats. It may have a 4.19.904m ovule or a 4.19.904 ovule (if it's been updated), but the SE system has been removed. The odds of the offspring having an alternate foliage are zero.
