FAQ

What is ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ?
It's an animated system for growing and breeding pixel cannabis in the Second Life virtual world. Some growers try to collect all the various standard and limited editions that have been released. Others specialize in cross-breeding plants to achieve extremes in size, potency, and growth rate. Trading and selling are also popular pastimes in the ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ community.

How does it work?
Just like real life cannabis plants, there are male and female ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ plants. Once you have grown a male and female to maturity, you can harvest the female. It will automagically detect if a male is nearby, and the offspring will have a blend of the mom and dad's characteristics.

How long does it take?
If unfed, it takes 150 hours (6.25 days) for a ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ plant to grow to maturity. If you feed them, they will grow at their genetic potential. And if they're an indoor/outdoor variety grown under lights, they will grow a little faster than that. Plus there are genetic mutations that can make plants grow even faster. So it's possible for plants to mature in less than one day. Once they are mature, plants flower for another 150 hours (unless harvested), so unfed plants left to auto-harvest last a twelve and a half days.

Do I have to buy Plant Food and Grow Lites?
If you are okay with plants growing at the slowest rate (taking a little more than six days to mature), you don't need to feed them. In fact, a very slow growing plant shows no benefit from feeding at all, so you can save your Lindens by not feeding them!

If you grow indoor varieties, you will need to use Grow Lites. Indoor plants will not grow without them. Indoor/outdoor plants will grow without lighting, but they do grow 2% faster if they are under a Grow Lite.

How many prims does it take?
Each plant is one prim. Planters, Grow Lites, and Plant Food take additional prims, but serve multiple plants.

When I rez seeds they poof. (Also, when my plants are harvested, the bricks poof.) What happened?
You must have "rez rights" on the land where you want to grow your plants. Be sure to wear your land group tag (if required) when you rez the seeds, because the plants have to belong to your land group in order to produce offspring bricks.

My female was right next to a male, but when I harvested her she made a sensimilla brick. Why didn't she detect the male?
First, was the male flowering (100% mature)? Second, even if plants are right next to each other, they may be out of the 3 meter breeding range. Remember, distances in SL are measured from the objects "center of mass" (where the cross-hairs appear when editing objects). Very large plants sitting right next to each other may be out of range due to their size. Breeding very small plants against very tall ones may pose a similar situation. Breeders sometimes have to move one plant up above ground level to get them within range. (Note: The same basic thing sometimes happens with Plant Food and Grow Lites.)

How do I get help?
The first step is to read the Grower's Guide and other help pages. (You can always click "Help" in a plant's menu to go to the Grower's Guide.) Join the ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ Growers and Breeders Group and post your question in group chat. You'll find our "Growing Community" is friendly and ready to help. And of course, you can contact Djeaux Farrasco or Gloria Delicioso in-world.
