IMPORTANT TECHNICAL BULLETIN

Because of a quality assurance issue, Generation 1 OG GROUNDHOG plants (grown from seed) may have problems and produce script errors during harvesting. We apologize for this issue.

THE FIX IS SIMPLE:
BEFORE HARVESTING A GEN 1 OG GROUNDHOG PLANT, UPDATE IT USING THE LATEST HUD UPDATER (Version 4.19.907).

Again, we're sorry for the inconvenience. If you experience harvesting problems after upgrading, please send a notecard in-world to Djeaux Farrasco, since your problems may be unrelated to this technical bulletin.

New Year, New Version

The new ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ HUD 4.2019 will begin pushing out soon to bring you Version 4.19.907!

The rare but dreaded Gen 1 standard throwback glitch bites even the most experienced growers. You know the story. You're harvesting a 48th generation Hendrix Haze you've worked a cool FX into. You click the Harvest button, and... you get a Gen 1 Northern Lights. Bummer. And danged if we can fix it within the limits SL gives us! 

So... IT'S NOT A BUG, IT'S A FEATURE!

With Version 4.19.907, if you're afflicted by the Gen 1 throwback, you'll get one of four new EPIC varieties: Alaskan TF, Chocolate Thai, Cindy 99 & G13! And that's the only way those EPIC strains can be obtained! EPIC seeds will not be sold! No, it's not going to be a Gen 49 Hendrix with purple fog, but it won't be another darn Northern Lights! It will be something rare!

We've also changed the logic for inheritance of the lighting trait. For seven years, it's been impossible to breed an indoor/outdoor line "up" to full outdoor lighting. It's now possible! Obsessive-compulsive breeders can now restore "heirloom" LE strains that have been hopelessly contaminated with the indoor lighting gene! (Stats now include numeric values for lighting, too.)

Finally, for those who like to decor prize plants after harvesting, Version 4.19.907 will save you some script memory. Decor plants now retain scripts only if they are needed to support sound FX. Plants that don't "sing" don't keep their scripts. It's not much, but if you're a decor collector it adds up!

Version 4.19.907 also includes a lot of other small optimizations & code clean-ups. If you're a glutton for boredom, just ask Djeaux about them! 

And oh yes, we've made some minor tweaks to make the menu layouts in HUD 4.2019 a little more organized!

Remember, your new HUD will be automagically delivered to you when it's available. Just wear your current HUD (or log in while wearing it).

December was a wild ride getting the new "full Strength" ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ Central open after the linden nark raided us. It's still "under construction," but we're open for business with a new store, LE museum, pOT pLOTs, auctions & more at  the new location*!

Rising from the ashes of the bust, PHOENIX FIRE was released during the holidays. This very fast growing outdoor superweed burns with "Trial by Fire" FX.

Then, as a members-only group gift, PIGASUS flash LE was released to ring in the New Year! Foliage features the infamous "Trademark of Quality" Swingin' Pig & the "Pigs Can Fly" FX sums it all up for these high potency, medium growing outdoor plants.

Busted

UPDATE! The following consumables you may want to use to grow ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ are available on Marketplace: Plant Food Spikes (2-pack), Liquid Plant Food Kits (dispenser & one refill), single Liquid Plant Food Refills, Compact Grow Lites, Octaplots & 10-Dose Plant Auxin Jug.

At about 6 AM SLT, a Linden Labs governance agent began returning all objects at ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ Central that the agent deemed to be "adult" products. All  vendors, plants, specimens & innumerable other store items were returned. Growers who had plants on pOT pLOTs should find them in their "Lost And Found" folders.

We have heard that other "commercial" locations had ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ plants returned as well. We have not heard of any "raids" on private grows. The action was clearly targeted at ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ as a business.

For seven years ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ has operated with the understanding based on early consultations with Linden Labs representatives that our product did not meet the Terms of Service definition ("depiction of illegal drug use") for an adult rating. We have operated smoothly for seven years with a moderate (PG-13) rating. Lindens have visited our operation & auctions with never a comment about the rating.

The rating at our current store location cannot be changed, so the ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ Team is exploring other options including leasing a full sim (which will be rated "adult").

Unless Linden Labs now decrees a grid-wide ban on ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ -- which we feel would be unlikely & extremely unwise -- your plants will grow fine. Our out-world database system continues to run as always, the foliage texture repository is unaffected & our master seed bank is safe.

We just can't provide pOT pLOTs or auctions now. We will be listing Standard seeds & a wider selection of accessories on Marketplace in the interim. You can purchase Food Spikes, Liquid Plant Food kits & refills & basic planters there now with more to come soon!

Finally, in the aftermath of this disaster, there was finger-pointing & name-calling in the group chat. & IM-space. We don't need that & feel badly about things we said.  But we need to move on. What happened, happened. What we need is to get ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ Central running again in accord with the all-new rating Linden Labs decided to give us. What we don't need is drama.

Versions, Versions, Versions! Be a Smart Shopper.

ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ has been in Second Life since 2011. Over 7 years, we've made many improvements & released a number of updates. In order to ensure the best end-user experience, it's always best to have plants that are at the current version or that have been properly updated so their offspring will be the current version..

Versions & Versions

For a variety of reasons, the ḈḁṇṇḁḇḭṦḼ update process doesn't change the plant you "update." Instead, it sets up the plant so that its offspring will have the updated version. This means that to know the version & update status of a plant you need to check two things:

If you don't see a Stats button, the
Seller has plant set to "Private."

Plant Version - Click on the plant & select "Stats" from the menu. This is the version of the plant you are looking at. If you're shopping & the plants are set "Private" -- with no "Stats" option in the Guest Menu -- our recommendation is to move on to another seller. (Some auctions set plants as "Private" to cut down on chat spam; in that case, the auctioneer should be posting Stats and Parent info for you anyway.)

shows Ovule Version.

Ovule Version - Inside every plant is an "ovule." This is what produces offspring. If the mother plant has been updated, the ovule may have a different version from the plant that contains it.

To check the ovule version, right-click on the plant & select "Edit" from the menu. Then navigate to the Contents tab of the Edit window, right-click on the ovule, select "Properties" & note the number in the Description field of the Inventory Item Properties box.

Important: A plant's version doesn't have to match the ovule version.  

So What Does a Smart Shopper Need to Know?

1. If the plant is any Version 4 & the ovule is the latest version, you're good to go. Of course, the best case scenario is that both the plant & the ovule are the latest version!
    
2. If the plant is a Version 2 or Version 3 & the ovule is the same version or Version 3.03, the plant is OK but has not been updated. Since this update requires a two step "bridge" process, the seller is avoiding some work (or doesn't know any better). Depending on how the plant is priced, you may want to "negotiate."
    
3. If the plant is a Version 2 or Version 3 & the ovule says "bridge," the plant has not been fully updated.  This will take an additional generation to fix, so definitely look at the pricing on these items. And if you aren't familiar with the bridge process, you might want to just keep looking.
    
4. If the ovule version is lower than the plant version, the plant has been improperly updated. This is fixable -- but it suggests the seller is paying less than 100% attention to their wares.
    
5. If the plant is a Version 2 or Version 3 & the ovule is the latest version, the plant has been improperly updated.  It can be fixed, if you know what you're doing, but you are either dealing with a grower who doesn't know what they're doing or a grower who's in a hurry to take your money. The official advice in this case is "buyer beware!"
    
6. It really doesn't matter for males. The ovule in males is nonfunctional. Your main concern with males is whether or not the plant itself is the current version, so you have all the latest & greatest features.
